Strengthening women-led institutions at the grassroots

Manjari Foundation is a registered non-profit organization established in May 2015, by alumni of PRADAN, a grassroots organisation working to alleviate poverty in rural India. Inspired by their legacy, Manjari’s founders set out on a mission to uplift rural communities by building resilient and self-sustainable women-led institutions and implementing a host of thematic programmes designed to bring about an overall improvement in the quality of rural life.Till date, Manjari Foundation has positively impacted the lives of over 200,000 rural people across 902 villages in four Indian states (Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh)

Sakhi

Empowering women through institution building

Sakhi is a CSR initiative of Hindustan Zinc ltd. and Manjari Foundation launched in September 2016. The initiative targets women from remote and marginalised sections of rural India, by mobilising and organising them into Self-Help Groups to serve as credit-worthy financial vehicles for enterprise development. So far, the initiative has formed nearly 3000 SHGs with a membership of more than 30,000 women with total savings of Rs 10.5 crore and cumulative loans of Rs 26 crore.
